Damp, Musty Odors?
If you're basement, crawl space, or entire house in Boston, MA or New Hampshire smells damp or musty, we have a solution!
Mold and mildew causes this damp, musty smell. If you eliminate mold, you will eliminate musty odor, because molds are musty smelling fungi that thrive in moist conditions. Keeping humidity down reduces the chance for humidity to grow. In general, mold will not grow at less than 50% relative humidity! Dehumidification is the key. Of course, any groundwater, plumbing or other leaks should be fixed, as part of a strategy to eliminate mold.
Allergens in the Home
You can create an Allergy Proof Home through Dehumidification. The number one home allergen, however, is the fecal matter of dust mites. Dust mites don't drink water, but absorb it out of the air through their skin. In order to live, dust mites need relative humidity over 50%. If you dehumidify your living space, reducing the relative humidity below 50%, you will cause dust mites to die off.
Dehumidification
There are three factors that cause mold to grow:
1. Temperature
2. Moisture
3. Organic material to feed upon
Of these, only moisture can be addressed in a home. If you dehumidify your basement or crawl space, you will reduce or eliminate mold growth.
